The Caribbean Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CICMC) celebrates the official launch of its OCT (Interim) Chapter
CICMC launched its newest regional chapter on 6th April 2017, effectively expanding its regional footprint to include the twelve (12) Caribbean jurisdictions in the British, Dutch and French countries and territories in the Caribbean. The launch of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) Interim Chapter took place in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) where the Chapter’s secretariat is headquartered.
The Chapter’s formation is a direct result of an initiative undertaken by the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME), which seeks to establish a regional network of business management consultants to support the SMEs and efforts of Business Support Organizations in the region.
Under the guidance of a CICMC liaison consultant, a working committee comprising consultants from Aruba, BVI and Curacao was formed in May 2016, to collaboratively work with CICMC to set up the new chapter and coordinate the continued recruitment and assimilation of OCT consultants. The collaboration effort resulted in the soft launch of the Chapter, in July and OCT delegates officially attending CICMC Conference 2016 in St Lucia. At the conference CICMC demonstrated its commitment to the OCT area, with the nomination and appointment of an OCT delegate to the Board of Directors.
The official launch ceremony, which was collaboratively hosted by CICMC and the COSME Project, featured BVI Premier, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, CICMC President Donald P. Demeritte, CMC® and COSME Project Leader Mr. Huib Poot. Eleven (11) consultants representing five of the OCTs were officially awarded their membership certificates during the ceremony.
In addition to receiving their certificates, Members were also awarded certificates for completing CICMC’s three (3) day Principles and Practices of Management Consulting workshop. The workshop was hosted by CICMC trainers Dr. Vasantha Chase, CMC and Rabindra Jaggernauth, CMC. These members included, Mr. Marcelino Gerald Kock (Aruba); Mr. Kevin Smith, Mrs. Marva Titley-Smith, Mr. Prakaash Rostam and Ms. Shaina Smith (BVI); Mr. Harish Rao, Ms. Nicoline Mol, Mr. Paul Helmich, and Ms. Tamira La Cruz (Curacao); Ms. Andrenne Roulston (St. Eustatius) and Mr. Erwin Wolthuis (St. Maarten).
The workshop, was ran from April 4th – 6th and is CICMC’s signature workshop and is a prerequisite for members seeking to attain the global Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) designation.
