WHAT IS THE CARIBBEAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS?

The Caribbean Institute of Management Consultants (CIMC) is a network of individual management consultants and Chapters/ Interim Chapters throughout the Caribbean. Our members are based in CARIFORUM countries – from the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic in the north, to Trinidad and Tobago in the south, including Guyana and Suriname in South America. Our Mission is “To be a professional organization that aggressively mobilizes its membership and enhances their ability to service clients according to global standards of ethical behavior and excellence.”

WHEN AND WHY WAS THE INSTITUTE FORMED?

The CIMC was inaugurated in 2007. It became a full member of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) in 2010. There was an acute need for such a body – one that would set and maintain rigorous standards for management consultants, provide ongoing opportunities for professional development for members, increase networking opportunities and improve the quality of management consulting services to our clients and stakeholders.

WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING DOES THE CIMC PROVIDE?
We are committed to ongoing professional development of our members to build their consulting capabilities. We organize training at both regional and national levels, as well as online courses, boot camp style training and mentorship to build consulting skills, so we can more effectively provide technical expertise in areas such as enhancing strategic leadership and management, financial and technical services, strengthening organizational and human capacity, building change readiness, conducting research, information technology and quality control services.
WHO ARE YOUR MEMBERS?
CIMC membership is open to an individual, primarily from a CARIFORUM country, who practices as a management consultant or has an interest in advancing the field of management consulting. Members agree to abide by the CIMC Code of Professional Conduct. In addition to the primary Professional membership category, CIMC offers Associate, Student and Corporate membership. Each membership category has separate requirements.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP?
Benefits of membership in the CIMC include:
  • networking opportunities with other management consultants regionally, and internationally
  • enabling you to develop a competitive edge as you seek to enlarge and broaden your client base
  • support in earning the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation which is the globally recognised standard for management consultancy
  • discounted fees for CIMC events and professional development training opportunities
  • obtaining a profile in our CIMC database
WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP FEES?

Membership fees for professional members are US$250 per year and for certified members, US$300 per year. An additional fee of US$50 will be charged as a one time registration fee for new members and a reinstatement fee for past members. Membership fees can be paid directly on the CIMC home page.

CAN I OBTAIN THE CMC DESIGNATION WITHOUT JOINING THE CIMC?

No. An individual must become a member of the CIMC in order to pursue CMC certification.
